Congo Fever is a viral disease that is caused by an RNA virus. It is transmitted through ticks or contact with infected livestock or even through body fluids. The disease symptoms include fever, vomiting, muscle pains, hemorrhage, liver failure, etc. It may cause death in up to 25% of the cases.

Statement 2 is incorrect:

No vaccine is commercially available for the Congo Fever. The treatment is mostly supportive. The preventive measures include de-ticking farm animals before transportation. WHO had listed the disease as one of the top priority conditions against which R&D works are to be expedited.

Statement 3 is incorrect:

The 2019 was not the first case of Congo Fever in India. In 2011, the country saw the first human case of the disease’s infection. It resulted in the death of 4 people in Gujarat’s Sanand. The disease tends to occur as ‘outbreaks’.

Marengo sachintendulkar is a newly discovered spider species. It belongs to the genus of spiders called the Asian Jumping Spiders. All the Marengo spiders are found only in Asia. The discovery was by scientists of the Gujarat Ecological Education and Research Foundation.

Statement 2 is incorrect:

The Marengo sachintendulkar spider is found in 3 states: Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Gujarat. The finding was published in a Russian journal, Arthropoda Selecta. The specimen was collected in 2015 and the identification work was finished in 2017.

As per the recent announcement of the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the deep depression in the Arabian Sea has intensified into a cyclonic storm named Cyclone Nisarga.

It will further turn into a severe cyclonic storm by tonight and cross north Maharashtra and Gujarat coasts between Raigad district and Daman. When the storm crosses the coast, the severe cyclonic storm will have a wind speed of 90-105 kmph. Earlier, the cyclone Amphan hit the state of West Bengal and caused severe damage.
